St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation is honoured to be a long-time charity partner of the Around the Bay Road Race. Over the past 15 years, grateful patients, Hospital staff members, individual runners and corporate teams from across Hamilton have helped to raise more than $4.25 million to support hope, healing and discovery at the Hospital. This year, the Foundation set a goal of raising $475,000 through the Bay Race to support the renewal of St. Joseph’s Psychiatric Emergency Service.

In light of the COVID-19 virus, the Around the Bay Race organization is continuing to monitor the situation and seek guidance from Hamilton Public Health. At present, the Bay Race organizers plan to host the race as scheduled on Sunday, March 29, 2020.

As a Hospital foundation, the health and well-being of our community is always our primary concern and we believe we have a societal obligation to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 virus. With that in mind, we encourage participants to exercise caution and evaluate their own comfort level in taking part in the race.

For community members and fundraising teams who remain committed to raising funds for St. Joe’s, we are launching a virtual way for people to participate in our fundraising efforts to support emergency mental health care in our community: Hop, Skip or Jump for St. Joe’s!

Step 1 – Record!

They say that 10-minutes of jumping rope could be the equivalent of 30-minutes of running! With that in mind, we are encouraging our supporters to upload a video to Facebook, Twitter or Instagram of themselves jumping rope for 30-seconds in support of St. Joe’s! Don’t have a rope? Just do some light jumping jacks, or skips!

Step 2 – Challenge!

Before the video ends, simply challenge someone else to either: Donate to your ATB fundraising page OR Take the challenge themselves!

Step 3 – Fundraise!

Be sure to include a link to your fundraising page in your post, and tag anyone else that you would like to challenge!
