In the midst of the COVID-19 global pandemic, please rest assured that our Foundation is working hand-in-hand with our colleagues at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton to protect the health of our donors, volunteers and friends, our employees and families, and of course the community our Hospital has been honoured to serve for 130 years. There is so much information out there so in this communique, we have opted to share a simple message of trust, responsibility and hope.

TRUST: A PUBLICLY ACCESSIBLE CORONAVIRUS UPDATE PAGE ON STJOES.CA
Our Hospital has long been a trusted partner in caring for the health of our community. That’s why St. Joe’s has placed a bright yellow button on the homepage of the Hospital’s website where you can read the most up to date information about what our Hospital is doing to protect our community from the COVID-19 virus and find advice from our infection control experts. From information on implementing proactive screening at all of our campuses to sharing new visiting hours and policies, our Coronavirus Update page also houses links to helpful resources and information for the public.

RESPONSIBILITY: SPRING SEASON OF FUNDRAISING EVENTS ON HOLD
Our Foundation is honoured to be the charity beneficiary of funds raised through two iconic springtime events: The Around the Bay Road Race and Paris to Ancaster: A Ride for Research. Initially scheduled to take place on March 29 and April 26 respectively, both events have been cancelled or postponed until further notice in an effort to support social distancing and protect the health of our community. As a healthcare charity, we have a responsibility to protect our community so we are working closely with event organizers to communicate these pro-active and preventative measures to our event registrants and fundraisers.

HOPE: HOSPITALS LIKE ST. JOE’S ARE HERE TO HELP
Our region is so fortunate to have access to world-leading healthcare from organizations like St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. Together, we will get through this—as a community and as a country. During this time of increased pressure upon our healthcare system, we express our heartfelt thanks to our courageous Hospital staff across the city for their tireless and heroic efforts to care for and protect our community.

While our Foundation plans to remain operational during this time, we are taking measures to protect the health of our employees by encouraging working remotely from Wed., Mar. 18 through Fri., Apr. 3, 2020. We ask for your patience and understanding as tax receipts and correspondence may be slightly delayed.
