Around the Bay Road Race

Around the Bay Update

In March, the organizers of the Around the Bay Road Race postponed the race until November 22, 2020 in the hopes that by that time they would be able to safely host this historic Hamilton event. Sadly, due to the ongoing nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the provincial limits in place regarding outdoor gatherings, the 2020 Around the Bay Road Race has been cancelled. As a healthcare charity we understand how important it is that we all continue to follow all public health guidelines and refrain from large scale gatherings. We look forward to welcoming you back to the bay race when it is safe to do so. Until that time, here are the options available to you in terms of your 2020 race registration.

The Around the Bay Road Race has offered these options:

  1. You may choose to defer your 2020 registration to next year’s Around the Bay Road Race scheduled to take place on March 28, 2021
  2. Or, you can defer your 2020 registration for two years, and take part in the event scheduled for March 27, 2022
  3. If you prefer not to commit to participating in the Bay Race in 2021 or 2022, you have the option to request your 2020 technical running shirt and finishing medal be mailed to you.

For 15 years, the Around the Bay Road Race has been a signature fundraising event supporting St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation and during that time participants have helped to raise more than $4.25 million to support patient care, fund research, enable equipment purchases and more.

Many participants have already asked us how they can continue to support our Hospital despite the race’s cancellation. If instead of raising funds through the race this year, you would like to make a donation to our COVID-19 pandemic response fund, please click here. We’ve never needed your support more than we do right now as we work to combat and contain the COVID-19 virus.

Sincerely,

The St. Joe’s Foundation Team
